Show Guidelines & General Information

• Sequoia Arena is located in the Oakland Hills in Joaquin Miller Park, surrounded by pine trees. The climate is almost always temperate; it can be foggy. The arena and warmup area footing is standard with sand and dirt. There are bleachers next to the arena. This is an outdoor arena, so weather is a factor in determining if the show will be held.

• Trailer parking is in the meadow amongst the Redwoods. We will have parking assistance for you. Please be sure to park close to (but at a safe distance from) other rigs so there is room for everyone.

• Show begins at 9:00 am. The warm up arena opens at 8:00 am. Warm-up fences will be available in the warm-up area and our warm-up classes will help you get going. Lungeing is permitted in the warm-uparea only if there are no riders present. Riders and trainers may walk the course between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and quickly during jump crew height adjustments.

• Classes will be split by age if entries warrant and may be canceled or combined if fewer than three entries.

• Awards: Ribbons to 5th place. Ribbons to Champion of each jumper division. Pick up ribbons and prizes at entry desk.

• Warm-up classes do not count toward the Division Championship and will not be judged. However, as this is a schooling show, our judge highly recommends taking advantage of the warm-up classes because COACHING IS ALLOWED. Riders may receive sideline coaching assistance and will have a 2-minute maximum to complete the posted course.

• Scratches refunded with a certificate from your veterinarian or physician.

• This show is being held to support the activities of MHA and the stewardship of Sequoia Arena. MHA Membership is required to compete—or you may choose to pay a non-member fee of $20/day. Membership sign-ups include 2023 and all of 2024.

• Informal, but neat and clean attire requested. ASTM-SEI approved helmet and riding boots are required at all times for mounted riders. Halloween costumes are optional yet encouraged!

• Bring your own water buckets! Due to health risks, we will not have a community water trough. Water and a hose will be available.

• Please CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR HORSE and take manure and hay with you.

• This is a City of Oakland Park; please conduct yourself accordingly. Dogs must be leashed at all times; absolutely no smoking.

• By participating in this show, you declare that your horse(s) is in good health, with a body temperature below 101° F, eating normally, and has not shown signs of infectious diseases three days proceeding this event.
